How to tell in you are in a relationship (with apologies to the author of that classic joke on cricket)

You have two people, both out in the field. When both are out and want to be in again, then both are in. You can’t have one out and one in – it doesn’t really work that way. You then go out for a while or maybe you decide to stay in. This goes on for an indeterminate length of time and others feel they get left out. It gets rather complicated when you think you are in, one person thinks or wants out – this sometimes results in the next person coming in as they or you go out. The ideal result is when everyone else is out and you are the only ones left in, then you can let the cat that’s been in the bag out. Then everyone is in on it.
Of course, at some stage in the future, you may both ‘agree’ that you want out. Or, in certain circumstances want to come out. In which case, it is pretty much game over and measures must be taken to throw those who are in out. Or throw up, whichever is easier.
