Pressing issues at the polly presser

How can it be possible this fine day
You walk down the same avenues
Pass by the dark shadows of people
One minute passing after the next
Completely oblivious to the passing zephyrs
Rich with mixed emotion but otherwise bereft of substance.
I feel what you choose to ignore
The turgid tragedy deep in the scarred faces
In the hearts of those left and right
Corrupted, complacent, completely compliant
And yet you exude a copious confidence, how ?
Look around you, I say, and despair.

Blinkered vision cheats us all
Limiting our memories to a series of lingering, limpid impressions
In which we place total trust and belief
Never ask to criticise but instead
Demonise those who impede.
Not our problem, not our way !
Escalate the frenzy, come what may
Shout the slogans down, define our credo
Salus populi suprema lex esto !
