The Cynic ‘a la Grecque’

The cynic a la Grecque
Cares not for fame or the latest tech
He might live in utter squalor
He does not care about his next dollar
He insists you lead a life of virtue
And when you die might say “why weren’t you ?”

But I rather think
This approach might sink
It lacks attention
To convention
And would easily lead to drink

So, live a life of joy and calm
Spend time in town and on the farm
Eat well, meet friends
Make love, make amends
Not to do so would be your shipwreck
Perhaps we must pity the cynic a la Grecque
