from ashes to more ashes

Just seen the latest news from UK Civil Aviation Authority – more volcanic ash will mean Irish and Scottish airports will be closed from tonight NZ time. Not that I am panicking to any degree yet but I did have a buffer in my trip funding computations such that buying train tickets was a good idea – on the basis that if the flights are cancelled, EU law requires the airline to refund or rebook you so that could come in handy. No such rules (as far as I know) apply to ground transport.

It’s going to be a ‘dynamic’ (in a bad way) European summer, it seems…..
